When I worked for large banks, it was obvious that I was a steward of the bank’s resources, not an owner. There were budgets, bosses, and built-in accountability to remind me that the bank’s money was not mine.

As a banker I witnessed many business owners use company resources for personal gain, while employees and the organization’s financial stability suffered. Self-interest ruled to the detriment of many organizations.

When I finally grasped the principle that God owns it all, my mindset and actions changed. God expects us to steward His resources well.

Psalm 24:1 teaches us, “The earth and everything in it, the world and its inhabitants, belong to the Lord.”

You and I are stewards accountable to God. Whether you’re a business owner or employee, everything belongs to God.
