When Susan received an email from a client who was frustrated that no one had responded to his earlier note, she was surprised by the sender’s tone. His words expressed his anger at the organization’s lack of response.

Susan could have returned the sender’s emotion or ignored his not-so-subtle sarcasm. Instead, she took responsibility for a mistake that was not hers. She apologized and took initiative to address the sender’s concerns.

Paul urged humility in work in 1 Corinthians 4:12: “We work hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it.”

As Christians, we rejoice in God’s magnificent grace for our salvation. But don’t overlook the power of small graces to serve our colleagues and point them to Jesus.
