Mary was new within the audit department, but she made it clear that she believed she should be in charge. Our boss had served faithfully for years in running the department, but Mary was determined to force him out.
Mary began a very aggressive smear campaign against our boss. She spread multiple lies, and even had the gall to call his boss with false claims about him.
It only took a few months before the truth surfaced that Mary was a liar and a backstabber. She was eventually terminated.
Proverbs 6 teaches, “There are six things the Lord hates,” including, “a false witness who pours out lies.”
Don’t think you can get ahead by spreading false narratives about others. It will reflect poorly on you and eventually undermine your credibility.
