Years ago, Truett Cathy, the founder of Chick-fil-a, spoke at one of our luncheon events. There were many key leaders desiring to meet with Truett while he was here, but Truett went missing.
I eventually found Truett in a deep conversation with the doorman of the hotel. Truett was learning all about this man and offering up encouragement.
As many leaders increase in success and influence, they sometimes become condescending or proud, but not Truett.
Proverbs 6 teaches, “There are six things which the Lord hates, yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood.”
If you’re in danger of becoming condescending or prideful, ask God to forgive you. Strive for humility, treating others with kindness. God likes those qualities!
