After leaving public accounting, I read an article about used car rentals. Thus began an adventure that led me to start my first business which taught me many valuable lessons, including why not to start a business.
One morning, during below zero temperatures, it became clear to me that I had no passion for renting cars. There are many reasons for starting a new business, but one major key revolves around your motivation.
Making a lot of money is not the right motivation.
2 Peter 1:10 says, “Be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall.”
Answering a call from God, or at least filling a need in the marketplace, are much better reasons for starting a business.
