Geoffrey Owens, better known as Elvin on the “Cosby Show,” experienced hard times after the Cosby Show reruns were cancelled due to Bill Cosby’s legal troubles. To feed his family and continue his acting career, Geoffrey began sacking groceries at Trader Joe’s.
Unfortunately, someone posted a picture of Geoffrey working at Trader Joe’s, resulting in an article that he felt shamed him and his willingness to work. Afterwards, he was quoted as saying, “There’s no job better than another. Every job is worthwhile.”
In my mind, Geoffrey understands a truth many do not.
Colossians 3:23 says, “Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men.”
All moral work is important and valued by God. Let’s applaud those willing to work hard, not shame them!
