We have hosted events for years and have grown adept at handling crowds of 300 or so. Recently, however, our model was severely tested when 700 attendees squeezed into a hotel ballroom to hear St. Louis Cardinals manager, Mike Matheny.

We discovered a few cracks in our model. We didn’t factor in how much the space and configuration could impact the flow of traffic. The result was a delayed start to the event and an opportunity to take a fresh look at how to improve our process.

Proverbs 22:3 teaches, “The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.”

If you’re trying to build a scalable business model add a couple of zeroes to the number you currently serve and carefully consider what might go wrong.
