Listen to the latest 60 second episode of Integrity Moments with Rick Boxx
Integrity Moments is a 60 second workday devotional that provides business leaders with helpful insight into what the Bible says about our work and how we can fully integrate our faith into our vocational calling.

There are times when a good employee suddenly becomes disengaged. They begin putting in the minimum hours possible. Their work gets sloppy and assigned tasks go undone.

Susan David, in a past Harvard Business Review article, has three great ideas for engaging the disengaged:

  1. She recommends assigning the disengaged workers more authority and responsibility.
  2. She suggests learning from your most engaged employees. What do engaged employees do that could be modeled or leveraged for the disengaged.
  3. Levels of engagement change daily, so check back frequently and discover what methods work best.

Proverbs 27:23 teaches, “Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds.”

Disengaged employees can be reengaged, but to do so requires you to be engaged in knowing your people.
