Everyone on Karen’s team agreed that she created an accommodating work environment. She went out of her way to make sure everyone got along.
Unfortunately, accommodating team members also meant that Karen struggled to make decisions. She delayed responses while she sought out everyone’s opinions in her effort to have every decision reflect the group consensus. Making hard decisions was not Karen’s strength.
Jesus criticized the Pharisees for their focus on public opinion above their adherence to God’s commands. Seeking human recognition meant that they strayed from their ministry call.
John wrote in his gospel, “for they loved human praise more than praise from God.” (John 12:43)
Biblical leadership requires listening for and following God’s guidance and instructions, rather than seeking a positive public reaction.
