According to Harvard Professor, Arthur Brooks, there's an annual survey that asks men and women if they feel their life is meaningless. Prior to 2008, the percentage of people typically affirming that belief was just 15%.
In 2008, however, the numbers increased significantly each year. For women, a meaningless life response reached 30%, and for men, 22%. Professor Brooks highlights the launch of smartphones as a root cause.
Smartphone use has significantly altered our nation's emotional state.
Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes 2:1, "I said to myself, "Come now, I will test you with pleasure to find out what is good." But that also proved to be meaningless."
Limiting smartphone use is a good step towards improving your mental health. But Solomon concluded that fearing God was the best solution.
