In this series, we’re discussing the phases Joshua went through to address sin in his camp. When you’ve discovered the source of the problem, now it’s time to determine the punishment.

In Joshua’s case, the punishment of stoning Achan and his family seems harsh. But we need to remember that God’s warning in the beginning was clear; anyone that violated His command would bring about their own destruction. Also, Achan’s sin resulted in thirty-six men dead.

More importantly, in Joshua 7:12, God said, “I will not be with you anymore unless you destroy whatever among you is devoted to destruction.”

For you and I, punishment for someone’s sin that is harming your business is necessary. But it may be in the form of discipline, or at worst, an employee being dismissed.
