Years ago, in my consulting practice, I worked with companies from a variety of industries. On occasion some would contest my recommendations on improving their profitability, claiming I didn’t understand their industry.

One approach I found effective in that case was using their own experiences against them. By reviewing multiple years of their company finances, I usually could find examples of when these businesses operated at their best.

By building a budget based on their best years, they became more accepting.

Ephesians 5:15 teaches, “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.”

When times get hard, we can think we’re stuck, forgetting what God has been able to do through us in the past.
