Praying for the teams we lead might not be a leadership tactic in many secular management books. But it is an important leadership responsibility that Moses demonstrates in chapter 34 of the Old Testament book of Exodus.
After the Israelites demonstrated their disobedience, Moses recognized that the people needed God’s forgiveness.
“Moses bowed to the ground at once and worshiped. ‘Lord,’ he said, ‘if I have found favor in your eyes, then let the Lord go with us. Although this is a stiff-necked people, forgive our wickedness and our sin, and take us as your inheritance.’” Exodus 34:8-9
As leaders, we can lead our teams through our interactions and counsel. But we also have the privilege of lifting them up in prayer.
