Mark is a CEO responsible for over 6,500 employees globally. During a panel discussion we hosted in St. Louis, Mark was asked how he manages that many people.
Mark pointed those in attendance to Jethro’s wisdom. Moses was exhausted judging all the cases for the Israelites when his father-in-law, Jethro, arrived.
Jethro realized this was a problem. In Exodus 18, he told Moses “The thing that you are doing is not good. You will surely wear out, both yourself and these people who are with you, for the task is too heavy for you; you cannot do it alone.”
Jethro drafted a crude organizational chart, and taught Moses to pick great people and to delegate. If your responsibilities are overwhelming, select good people and delegate the duties to others.
