As a new grandparent, I’ve noticed that a new baby in the home can change the dynamics. Everyone seems so focused on the new baby that others can feel overlooked or jealous. That can be a husband, another child, or even a pet.
In business, the same dynamic can happen. While trying to onboard a new employee, some staff members may feel threatened by the attention the new person is receiving and become jealous.
This can cause tension that can begin to undermine your culture and create unrest.
Proverbs 27:4 teaches, “Anger is cruel and fury overwhelming, but who can stand before jealousy?”
When you are onboarding someone new in your organization, be mindful of those who may become jealous. Addressing these feelings early can make for a smoother transition.
