But some knew that if this new life John taught about was real, then they needed deeper instructions on applying their faith to their work.
In Luke 3 we read, “Even tax collectors came to be baptized. ‘Teacher,’ they asked, ‘what should we do?’”
“Don’t collect any more than you are required to,” John told them.
In that day tax collectors were known for extorting more money than was owed. Imagine the impact their changed business practices had on their customers!
