For many leaders, work-life tension is a struggle. If only the Bible gave us a definitive number of hours for our work week.
Instead, the Bible gives us some boundaries to consider, but leaves us to seek God for specific guidance on our own personal situations. An early boundary Israel received was when God gave the Israelites the Ten Commandments to Moses.
Exodus 20:9 says, “Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath of the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work.”
When reading this verse most people focus on the seventh day, but God also commanded the Israelites to work six days. This requires us to discuss in our next lesson: How work is defined.
