As a young banker, I opened a personal bank account for the new CEO of a large nonprofit organization. Although this led to a relationship that enabled me to secure some large accounts with his employer, it also came with some expectations on his part.
This CEO began referring some of his newly hired executives who turned out to be his past drinking buddies. Unfortunately, they had terrible credit histories and bad reputations.
Eventually, this entire new crew, including the CEO, was either fired or went to prison, leaving an incredible wake of damage behind them.
Proverbs 26:10 says, “Like an archer who wounds everyone is one who hires a passing fool or drunkard.”
A “bad hire” hurts more than just the employer, it also damages those around them.
