Recently, I had to forewarn our son, Jeremy, that change was coming. We were in the process of moving to a new home.
The change seemed minimal to me because we only moved two blocks away to a similar home, but Jeremy, in part due to his autism, needs a lot of forewarning to process change.
Later, I found Jeremy sobbing. When I asked if he was crying because of our move, he choked out a “yes.”
Isaiah 42:9 says, “See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you.”
When we’re forcing change on our staff, we need to remember that some need notice as far in advance as possible, and each person handles change differently.
