In his book, “Why Your Work Matters,” Tom Nelson recounts the Exodus story of God’s anointing on two men – Bezalel and Oholiab – for special service.
“Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘See, I have chosen Bezalel… and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills—” including the ability to work with gold, silver, stone and wood. (Exodus 31:1-3) God specifically called the two men to use their skills to make the items – from furniture to lampstands – necessary for worship in the tabernacle.
Nelson notes that the men’s work – like our own – was both God-given and spirit-filled.
If your work is feeling mundane and routine, consider where you see God’s giftedness and spirit within you.
