My friend, Pete, shared recently at an event that when he turned 40, he realized he had become financially successful, but wasn’t internally fulfilled.
He craved significance. So, he pledged to give away $10 million in his lifetime. Years later, someone challenged him to add another “0” on the end of his financial pledge.
Pete soon realized that this higher level of financial commitment would require total surrender. Only God could fulfill Pete’s pledge, and only if Pete totally surrendered everything to Him.
In Matthew 19:21 Jesus told the rich young ruler, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven.”
In our spiritual journey, we never fully arrive until we surrender all to Jesus.
