Dayton Moore, the General Manager of the World Championship Kansas City Royals, recently shared with a small crowd over dinner some lessons learned from his years of leading the Royals. The one lesson that struck me the most was on forgiveness.
Dayton shared that it took several years to turnaround the Royals, but during that time many followers had become very impatient and publicly accused Dayton of being a failure.
This led to Dayton’s lesson learned. He realized that each day he needed to forgive others. Otherwise, he knew it would destroy him.
Matthew 6:14 teaches, “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.”
Anyone in leadership will be criticized at times, practicing forgiveness is crucial for your health and your relationship with God.
