As we start a new year, a theme that King Solomon highlights in Ecclesiastes is that the best we can hope for in this life is to find joy in our work.
In Ecclesiastes 8:15, Solomon wrote, “And I commend joy, for man has nothing better under the sun but to eat and drink and be joyful, for this will go with him in his toil through the days of his life that God has given him under the sun.”
With most of our waking hours spent in the workplace, enjoying our work is a fruitful pursuit.
As you begin this year, ask yourself, “Am I doing work that I enjoy, or work that is soul sucking?” If possible, discover and pursue work that uses your God-given gifts and passions.
