Phil Vischer, creator of VeggieTales, shared with my wife and I that when VeggieTales videos began having success, he had a dream. His dream was that God was anointing him to be the next Walt Disney for the Christian community.
He didn’t realize it at the time, but Phil’s dream eventually became an idol. Phil summarized for us what he learned from all this.
Phil has chosen to substitute the word, “Idea” for the word “Dream.” He learned that when you use the word “dream” it’s hard to hold on to it loosely, and others tend to not give you honest input.
Ecclesiastes 5:7 says, “Much dreaming and many words are meaningless. Therefore fear God.”
Our focus should be on God, not our dreams, because dreams can easily become idols.
