Integrity Moments is a 60 second workday devotional that provides business leaders with helpful insight into what the Bible says about our work and how we can fully integrate our faith into our vocational calling.

Although the Old Testament encourages us to give at least 10% of our income to God’s work, studies claim the average individual gives less than 2.5% of their income. Personal giving, however, far exceeds corporate giving.

In 2015, according to Commerce Department and National Philanthropic Trust data, I calculated corporate giving at only 1.12% of net income. Many shareholders have never considered that God owns their business as well as their paycheck. It’s unconventional thinking, but true, that God has claim to all profits.

King David wrote in Psalm 24:1, “The earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains, the world, and those who dwell in it.”

If you have influence over charitable giving in your organization, consider asking God how much you should give. Then give generously and thankfully.
