Small business owners know that customers are the life blood of their organization. So knowingly angering one of them is risky.
A new friend who owns a martial arts academy took that risk recently. After developing his mission statement and core values, he put them on a plaque by the front door of his business.
His mission statement states that their purpose is to glorify God. A customer complained. She thought bringing his faith into a retail business was inappropriate.
He politely said, “I’m sorry to hear that. We will hate to see you go.”
Jesus said in Matthew 10:33, “But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven.”
Customers should be cherished, but there are times when choosing to cherish God is more important.
