Nehemiah needed to convince the Jews to rebuild the walls around Jerusalem. A poor job of casting vision could have stopped or hindered his project.

Nehemiah’s vision casting is only two verses long, but it identifies four elements that may be helpful to us in our own vision casting opportunities. The first element is to “clearly state the problem.”

Nehemiah 2:17 says, “Then I said to them, ‘You see the bad situation we are in, that Jerusalem is desolate and its gates burned by fire…’”

It seems elementary, but the people of Jerusalem had been living amongst the rubble for decades. They needed to be reminded they weren’t living in the best of circumstances.

If you are trying to rally others, make sure they understand and agree to the problem.
