Coach Tommy Bowden developed a system to help shape the character of his football players called CARDS. Today I want to talk about R for Responsibility.

Responsibility and accountability go hand in hand. One of the biggest transitions for younger employees is the area of responsibility.

It’s a sign of maturity when employees assume responsibility and complete their required tasks. As leaders, we need to remember that some have not yet had many responsibilities in life.

Galatians 6 teaches, “But each one must examine his own work, and then he will have reason for boasting, but to himself alone, and not to another. For each one will bear his own load.”

We sometimes must gradually add more responsibility to our younger employees until they are fully bearing their own loads.
