When Kathy and I married, we rented a reception facility from one of the wealthier men in our county. On our wedding day, I went to check on the reception hall and found a man dressed in work clothes setting up chairs.

He looked like a custodian. When he told me his name, I was stunned! I blurted out, “Aren’t you the guy that owns this place? Don’t you hire people to do this for you?”

He was offended and retorted, “Hire people! That would cost money. I can’t afford to do that.”

Proverbs 13:7 says, “One person pretends to be rich, yet has nothing; another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.”

In business, appearances can be deceiving. Treat all people alike and it may save you embarrassment.
