A boss once asked me to sign off on illegally modifying certain legal documents that would have allowed our company to collect more money from a customer. For a moment, out of fear of losing my job, I begrudgingly accepted my boss’ demand.
But then, the Holy Spirit reminded me that God sees everything and that my loyalty should be to God first. At the risk of losing my job, I informed my boss I would not be honoring his request.
Although he wasn’t happy, he respected my stand and never asked me to do anything unethical again.
Proverbs 21:21 teaches, “One who pursues righteousness and loyalty finds life, righteousness, and honor.”
