A friend in the advertising industry used to hear her colleagues say, “If you aren’t getting sued, you aren’t making enough noise.” President Trump is a good example of someone who seems to flourish in the polls, especially when he is being sued and receiving bad press.

As followers of Jesus, we may at times be smeared in the press or even persecuted, but does that mean we should pursue bad press?

1 Thessalonians 4:11 says, “Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders …”

Your work and witness may bring bad press at times, but it’s not something we should pursue.
