After a long and successful business career in human resources, my friend Rick felt called to pursue a PhD in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. During his second year, Rick spoke with his advisor about a class that he felt was unnecessary due to his background.

His advisor said, “Rick, you may not need the course, but I don’t think you realize the value you bring to the classroom for the others.”

Rick’s presence helped the education of others, even though it added limited value to him personally.

Titus 2:7 teaches, “Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech…”

Sometimes God calls us to be role models. When called, do it with integrity and dignity.
