Family business and fatherhood are often messy. I previously worked for a man who had five children from two marriages.
His love for his business often harmed and exasperated his children. He hired, fired and rehired his oldest son, with years of estrangement between them. The son eventually left the business.
This father next hired and fired his son-in-law. A second son was hired and eventually named CEO but left frustrated with his father.
Eventually, this father hired his youngest son and left him the family business.
Ephesians 6:4 teaches, “Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.”
Our love for our children and our passion for business can easily conflict. Don’t allow your passion for your business exasperate your children.
