Recently, my friend, Jim, shared with me a message he communicated to his employees in 2008. Instead of talking about layoffs and cost cutting, as many were during the Great Recession, Jim told his employees that they wouldn’t be participating in the recession.

He committed that performance-based raises and bonuses would continue.

While others were devastated by the economy, Jim’s company added new stores, increased employee count and their stock outperformed 94% of NASDAQ companies.

Jim knew that shifting his team’s attitude and thoughts from recession to possible abundance was critical to their success.

Romans 12:2 teaches, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

Our attitude has a much bigger impact on our work than many realize.
