Rider’s University recently eliminated Chick-fil-a for consideration for an on-campus restaurant. When Cynthia Newman, former Dean of Rider’s University Business School, was provided talking points about the University’s decision, she realized that she was being required to speak against her own personal Christian values. So, she resigned.
Standing firm in our faith in today’s culture can now require us to take a stand that may come at a personal cost. It’s easier to go along with the culture, but when we do, the culture wins.
Jesus said in Matthew 10:38, “And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.”
As followers of Jesus, we need to be prepared for the day when our “cross” may require us to take a costly stand.
