Major General Briggs shared great wisdom at our Faith Incorporated event this year about making difficult decisions during a crisis. Sprinkled into a story about the military’s obsession with being prepared and their zealous use of checklists, was a humorous insight.
Major General Briggs said, “If you want people to keep and use a checklist, laminate it. People are reluctant to throw away something that’s been laminated.”
Although this received a good laugh, I think there is some keen wisdom in this statement. People in your workplace need to know what you value.
Proverbs 16:21 says, “The wise of heart is called discerning, and sweetness of speech increases persuasiveness.”
Sometimes we need to communicate what we value verbally, but there are times when you must be creative as well.
