Listen to the latest 60 second episode of Integrity Moments with Rick Boxx

Author Os Hillman wrote that our own strengths and talents often can be a barrier to our faith. When we are skilled in an area, it is easy to depend on that strength instead of depending on God.
In Luke 5, Jesus challenged Simon (soon to be “Peter”) to trust God for his work outcomes. Jesus tells Simon to drop his fishing nets in the deep water.
“Simon answered, ‘Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.’” (Luke 5:5)
Obeying Jesus’ instruction, Simon and his crew brought in a record haul.
Praise God for the talents he has given you, but don’t let those talents be a substitute for seeking God in your work.
