King Jehoshaphat decided that he wanted to build a fleet of ships to search for gold in another land. His mistake, however, came when he decided to take on a business partner.
He paired up with the King of Israel, King Ahaziah, without considering God’s desire. Ahaziah was known for his wickedness and not someone God wanted partnering with His people.
These two kings were unequally yoked. Jehoshaphat’s poor judgment came with a cost.
In 2 Chronicles 20 a prophet told Jehoshaphat, “Because you have made an alliance with Ahaziah, the Lord will destroy what you have made.” The ships were wrecked and were not able to set sail to trade.”
If we believe God owns everything, including our businesses, He should have the final say on any business partners.
