In the story of Esther, Haman is an evil character who hated Mordecai and the Jews. He had risen to power, becoming the king’s right-hand man, filling Haman with pride and arrogance.
In Esther 5:11, we read, “Haman boasted to them about his wealth, his many sons, and all the ways the king had honored him and how he had elevated him above the other nobles and officials.”
God has a unique way of humbling the prideful. Soon after Haman’s boast, the king forced Haman to honor Mordecai by Haman leading Mordecai through the streets on the king’s horse!
Proverbs 16:18 reminds us, “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.”
When things are going well for you in business, be sure to occasionally check your pride.
