In Harvard Business Review, Susan Peppercorn highlighted five questions to help you retain your employees. Today I want to talk about her fourth question, “What are we currently not doing as a company that you feel we should do?”
When you can make this question specific, for instance, asking, “What are we not doing in our marketing efforts?” it will often result in ideas you haven’t considered.
Your people long to be heard. They have observations and ideas that are valuable.
In Matthew 7:8, Jesus said, “For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”
By asking your employees probing questions, you will not only gain valuable insight, you will also be more likely to retain good talent.
