Doug, a former boss of mine, worked for the same company for over forty years. His strong work ethic, faithfulness, and loyalty allowed him to steadily climb the corporate ladder.
But when Doug reached the top of his department, he was more subject to the wrath and whims of the CEO, resulting in occasional mistreatment or demotion.
What I admired about Doug was the way he handled these trying situations. He typically remained calm, faithful, and loyal, eventually being restored to his previous position.
Solomon taught in Ecclesiastes 10:4, “If the anger of the ruler rises against you, do not leave your place, for calmness will lay great offenses to rest.”
Sometimes in business when you are being maligned, the best course is to remain calm and wait it out.
