Listen to the latest 60 second episode of Integrity Moments with Rick Boxx

As a child, I sometimes crossed my fingers behind my back when agreeing to something I did not want to do. As a teenager, occasionally I promised to join a friend, then abandoned it when a better invitation arrived.
Those choices may have seemed small, but broken promises erode trust. In business, where relationships depend on trust, the cost becomes significant.
James 5:12 says, “All you need to say is a simple ‘Yes’ or ‘No.’ Otherwise you will be condemned” (NIV).
James challenged people who tried to strengthen empty promises with oaths. Integrity requires something simpler: say what you mean and do what you say.
Before making a commitment, consider it carefully. Then honor it, even when another option looks more attractive. Your yes or no should be enough.
