Recently, I attended an event featuring Dr. Tony Evans. Dr. Evans described God’s preferred role for Christians in the race relations struggle by using a football analogy.

During a football game, there are two teams who are in conflict by design. The referees, however, work for the National Football League.

On the field, they are required to set aside their team preferences and instead represent the “kingdom” of the NFL.

Tony’s point was that many Christians have joined one of the world’s teams rather than representing God’s Kingdom instead.

James 4:4 teaches, “Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.”

As followers of Jesus, the workplace is a great place to stand for God’s Kingdom, instead of one of the world’s opposing teams.
