As we head into Valentine’s Day, our thoughts are often of love and romance. Love is a word however that doesn’t often make its way into the workplace.
We may love our spouse, our father or our neighbors. All different kinds of love, yet, we use the same English word.
In the Greek, however, there are seven words for love. Valentine’s Day affection would be Eros, while Storge or Agape better defines the types of love experienced in the workplace.
Agape is love for others that includes a love for God, nature, strangers or the less fortunate.
Galatians 5:14 teaches, “For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'”
As leaders in the marketplace, let’s apply agape to our day-to-day work relationships.
