Covid has allowed me to work from home and hear my wife, Kathy’s, approach to her work. Since I’m a wordsmith, I find myself wanting to jump in and shape her phone conversations at times.
Then I remember that Kathy primarily works to build relationships for this ministry. Kathy is far better at building relationships than I am.
My interjection into her conversations would hinder, not help her work.
In Luke 9:50, Jesus said to John about another follower doing ministry differently, “Do not hinder him; for the one who is not against you is for you.”
As leaders add staff, it can be hard to let go and let your staff use their skills in ways that seems best to them. But when they’re allowed to soar, everyone flourishes.
