Recently, at a Leadercast simulcast, Pastor Andy Stanley shared about the meaning and importance of purpose in our professional lives. He highlighted that it’s hard for us to have true purpose if we think that our purpose revolves around us personally, rather than on something or someone much greater.
Andy mentioned that he frequently shares with his staff, “Your glory is too small of a purpose to live for.” Remembering to take the spotlight off me and pointing it towards God instead is critical for us to find true meaning and purpose.
Psalm 29:2 teaches, “Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.”
If you truly want purpose and meaning from your work, point the glory to your Creator.
