Recently, I called to check in on an old friend. Jimmy has been an entrepreneur for decades in the constantly changing telecommunications industry.
In the early years, Jimmy loved building his business. As his industry struggled, so has Jimmy.
It broke my heart to hear him say, “How long must I keep up this grind of making as many prospect calls as possible in order to put food on the table and put my kids through college?”
Solomon felt like Jimmy when he wrote in Ecclesiastes 3:22, “So I saw that there is nothing better for a person than to enjoy their work, because that is their lot.”
My prayer for Jimmy, and for those who are weary, is that God would give them the gift of happiness in their work.
