My perceptions of Ray Kroc were changed by the movie, “The Founder.” His ruthless pursuit of fame and power climaxed in a scene where Kroc is talking to Mac McDonald on the phone.
Ray Kroc was forcing the McDonald brothers out of the business they founded. In this telephone conversation Kroc says to Mac McDonald, “If my competitor was drowning, I’d shove a hose in his mouth. Would you be willing to do that?”
When Mac answered no, Kroc said, “That’s why you only have one store.”
Proverbs 10:2 teaches, “Ill-gotten gains do not profit, but righteousness delivers from death.”
Ray Kroc may have built a huge empire, but he left a lot of pain in his wake. Business should be used to bless others not bring curses upon others.
