Hindsight can be a humbling critic. At year end there are typically some economists and political futurists who reflect on how well their predictions for the year faired.

I admire those who are willing to admit when their predictions fall short.

Many business leaders also speak publicly about their beliefs on the future of their industry or their business. When they’re wrong it’s likely that some who believed in their predictions were harmed financially.

James 3 teaches, “Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.”

This verse doesn’t necessarily mean that leaders should stop speaking. But it does mean they need to recognize the heavy responsibility that comes as a leader and public speaker.
