In this series we’re discussing the importance of leaders showing empathy to their team members from an article written by Jason Richmond in forbes.com. Jason’s next suggestion is to be curious.
Charles is a task-focused manager who has not been very curious about the lives of his employees, resulting in poor ratings as a leader. Fortunately, Charles’ boss implemented software that prompted Charles to become curious and gather personal information on each employee.
Months later, Charles’ teammates claimed they loved working for Charles because of his empathy and concern.
In Psalm 8:4 the psalmist wrote, “What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?”
By becoming curious about the lives of your people you will show empathy and earn favor.
